The Championship supports the British Touring Car Championship placing it on the biggest stage possible in the UK. Large crowds provide an electric atmosphere and live TV coverage on ITV4 with a highlights programme is part and parcel of the media support. A 15 minute qualifying session determines grid positions for the weekend’s two 15-minute races. A driver’s fastest lap in this time is taken into account for race one’s grid, whilst their second fastest lap relates to their starting position for race two. Governed by rules and regulations including sealed engines, gearboxes and differentials, any major component cannot be modified on the car. This prevents expensive research and development; ensuring all cars are identical to provide close, thrilling racing between evenly- matched drivers. |
